Project description

The stretch between Lucerne main station and Kriens Mattenhof station is being expanded to a twintrack and sunk underground. This project consists of the mined, 550 metre-long Hubelmatt tunnel, the 300 metre-long underground station, the 470 metre-long Allmend tunnel and the 140 metre-long Mattenhof ramp.

Construction method Mattenhof ramp:

  • Excavation trench closures with burgeoned sheet pile walls
  • Water retention by means of well point and large filter well
  • Floor plates and walls created as "white trough"

Construction method Allmend cut-and-cover tunnel:

  • Excavation trench closures with sheet pile walls
  • Water retention by means of well point and large filter well
  • Cut-and-cover design under pressurised air

Construction method Allmend station:

  • Excavation trench closures by means of bored pile wall
  • Concrete structure created with open construction method

Construction method Allmend portal:

  • Trench excavation and rock extraction
  • Securing excavation trench by means of rock nails and shotcrete
  • Central ventilation system and mine tunnel with in-situ concrete design

Construction method North portal/Geissenstein:

  • Excavation trench closures with anchored back sheet pile walls and retaining walls
  • Securing rock with nails and shotcrete
  • Mine tunnel and technical rooms with in-situ concrete
