A2/A8 Kirchenwald Tunnel, construction lot 321, Hergiswil

To protect against rock falls, the viaduct section of the A2 motorway between Hergiswil and Stansstad is being replaced by the two 1.6 km long bores comprising the Kirchenwald Tunnel.

The tunnel bores, cross-over points and utility rooms were cut using a non-invasive blast heading method (full and partial face). Umbrella sealing with 2 mm PVC lining. Lining concrete with front and tail shuttering as well as special shuttering in the various ancillary constructions.
