Ceneri Base Tunnel lot 853

Lot 853 comprises work on the northern side of the Cenari Base Tunnel (first tunnel cutting and portal construction).

In the east bore, which accommodates two tracks in the portal area, the loose material is excavated through two small galleries located at the side (similar to side-wall galleries) protected by a bore screen, as is the calotte. The single-track east bore is also being excavated using a bore screen. In the adjacent rock, the material is excavated using a conventional blast process.
