Successful project completion: Bözberg tunnel with acceptance of the service & rescue tunnel

On 27 April 2022, the time had come: the "Bözberg Tunnel" project was successfully completed and handed over on schedule with the acceptance of the service and rescue tunnel by the client. The client particularly appreciated the quality, the adherence to schedules of the individual construction phases and the extraordinarily good and constructive cooperation.

Daniel Spörri, Head of Implenia Tunnel Construction Switzerland, expressed his thanks to all those involved in the project: "This handover marks the end of a success story. Everyone worked together towards the same goal and cultivated a partnership-based, solution-oriented collaboration right from the start. In addition, factors such as the GU+ contract model with connection of the implementation planning to the executing contractor, the assurance of timely and coordinated information flow of all parties involved in the various construction phases as well as the all-round commitment to project optimisations have contributed to this positive project conclusion."

Wolf Walter, Head of Construction Unit Northwestern Switzerland, is also proud to have been involved in the new Bözberg tunnel with his team: "With the precut in Effingen, the construction of the portal structures and the rehabilitation of the service and rescue tunnel, we were able to demonstrate our expertise for demanding infrastructure constructions in this project together with the tunnel construction unit."

The new double-track tunnel, which is around 2.7 km long, runs parallel to the previous railway tunnel at a distance of 30 to 50 m, which has now been upgraded to a service & rescue tunnel.
